And here’s another quick sketch of the protagonist. He’s a Dutch soldier, and starts out a little rough and down on his luck. I wanted him to look a little like Jimmy Stewart in It’s A Wonderful Life, but he ended up looking more like Peter O’Toole, which might suit him better so maybe that’s the direction I’ll go in.

Magnolia here. Here’s some sketches I did of what the dogs in my story might look like. It took me a while to get the right look. Sorry about the quality of this picture, I had to take a photo instead of scanning and that never looks good. I’ll post some more finished sketches of the dogs soon.

This brings a close to today’s Thumbelina sketch dump!

It’s a good place to stop because this is easily my favorite drawing of Thumbelina, and the field mouse doesn’t look half-bad neither. Like I said, I want to get her face somewhere between that nice fluid cartoony look below and the way it looks here. Got lots of sketching to do, but now I gotta prep Love Me Nice minis for print and get back to penciling. Want to start Thumbelina pages fairly soon!

I want Thumbelina to have slight jowls and a less pronounced chin, you can see I was going for that but didn’t do it right. Maybe its the thick lines.
